Join us in making a lasting impact at the 2025 UGA Invitational (formally the Jim Thorpe Invitational), a unique event dedicated to supporting and empowering minority junior golfers. This signature 36-hole tournament hosted at Innisbrook Resort offers an unparalleled opportunity for elite junior minority golfers and professionals from the US, Canada, and the Caribbean to showcase their talents. This upcoming Historical Celebration will offer several Lifetime Achievement Awards, Upliftment of a Community, Scholarship, Grants, and More.
Our annual event will feature up to 110 of the most talented junior golf athletes and collegiate golfers,. The highlight includes a Pro-Am Event where a select group of junior and collegiate players from the field will compete along side of leaders of the Sponsors, Corporate, and Community supporting our events. This tournament celebrates the legacy of our UGA Founders and provides a platform for our supporters to foster the growth of our elite minority golfers, paving the way for their futures both on and off the golf course.
We envision bringing together a diverse mix of philanthropic business and golf professionals to join us for a 100th Anniversary celebration of the oldest golf association for African Americans. This unique event will allow you to experience championship golf, while playing alongside our emerging and most talented as you contribute to their blossoming careers. UGA Invitational
The Invitational’s Junior Division provides a prestigious platform for 80 elite minority junior golfers to showcase their talent in a challenging 36-hole stroke play tournament. It features age-specific divisions, ensuring fair competition.
- 9 & Under: Plays 9 holes each day (18-hole total).
- 10-12, 13-15, and 16-18: Plays 18 holes each day (36-hole total).
This tournament serves as a stepping stone for aspiring minority golfers, offering them exposure and experience at a high level of competition.
The Legacy Cup
Two Teams | Two Days | One Course | One Legacy Cup
In an inaugural event, two collegiate teams, each led by a team captain who selects their players through a rigorous process, will compete in a joint Women’s & Men’s Match Play Golf event. 24 of the nation’s top minority collegiate athletes will battle for the honor of hoisting the 2025 Legacy Cup competing on the infamous Copperhead Golf Course at Innisbrook Resort and Spa in Greater Tampa, Florida.
