United Golfers Association to Launch 100 Days of Black Golf History Facts

Washington, D.C. – September 19, 2024 – The United Golfers Association (UGA) is thrilled to announce the launch of “100 Days of Black Golf History Facts,” a special initiative starting on September 28, 2024, and running through January 1, 2025. This campaign is part of the UGA’s lead-up to it’s 100th Anniversary celebration in 2025.

Throughout this period, the UGA will share daily facts highlighting the rich history and contributions of Black golfers. The series will feature well-known figures such as Robery Hawkins, Ted Rhodes, Bill Spiller, Lee Elder, Charles Sifford, John Shippen, Ann Gregory, and many others, alongside fascinating insights about the UGA itself. Cool Stats, Notable Timeline Facts, Betcha Didn’t Know Facts, Misconceptions, and intimate interviews with legends and people of interest.

In addition to these historical tidbits, the UGA will unveil never-before-seen videos and images from its private collection. These materials aim to provide the greater golf community with a deeper understanding of the wealth, competitiveness, vigor, tenacity, and enduring legacy of African American golfers. These tidbits will be shared via Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, and in partnership with Black Golf Wire.
